Electric Bike Battery Basics for Importers
Voltage, capacity, format, charger compatibility, weight, range expectations and transport rules all belong in the battery discussion.
Battery choice affects range, weight, charging and shipping. Voltage and capacity are the figures most buyers see first, but they need the rest of the system: controller, motor, charger and the way the pack is mounted.
Battery format and placement change service access and the riding balance of the bike. A removable pack can simplify charging and replacement; an integrated pack can change the appearance and the folding or carrying method.
Range expectations should be treated as conditions, not promises. Rider weight, speed, terrain, temperature and assist level all change the result. Ask what test method or usage assumption sits behind a stated range.
Importers should also review charger compatibility, destination electrical standards, and transport requirements that apply to lithium batteries. Those rules can affect packing, documentation and the shipping method.
Certification depends on the actual product model and target market.
